In a recent revelation, television personality Andy Cohen expressed his regret for turning down Meghan Markle as a guest on his popular show, ‘Watch What Happens Live.’
At the time of the potential invitation, Meghan Markle was widely recognized for her role as Rachel Zane in the hit TV series ‘Suits,’ long before she became the Duchess of Sussex.
During a panel session called “Ask Andy” at BravoCon 2023, Cohen candidly shared his thoughts on the matter. Reflecting on the decision, he admitted, “It was when she was on ‘Suits.’ I didn’t watch it. And I guess she was pitched, and we passed. As my executive producer said, ‘You really never know who is going to become a duchess.'”
Looking back now, Cohen deeply regrets missing the opportunity to have Meghan Markle on his show. He exclaimed, “When I think there could be clips of Meghan Markle kiki-ing with me, doing a shot, and talking about Vicki Gunvalson? I want to kill myself.” His words clearly indicate that he feels he missed out on a potentially memorable and entertaining moment.
However, Cohen doesn’t believe Meghan Markle would accept an invitation at present. He stated, “I don’t think so. I think she’s kind of done with it. You know what, by the way? I don’t blame her. ‘You passed on me then, you want me now?’ No.”
It seems that Meghan Markle’s rise to royalty and her subsequent detachment from Hollywood have influenced her decision to distance herself from such appearances on talk shows. Cohen’s regret over his initial refusal is understandable, but he acknowledges the reasons behind her current disinterest.
Aside from his regret over not having Meghan Markle on his show, Cohen has also been involved in a feud with former ‘Real Housewives’ star Bethenny Frankel. However, he is taking these conflicts in stride, addressing the issues as they arise.
While the opportunity to have Meghan Markle on ‘Watch What Happens Live’ may have slipped through his fingers, Andy Cohen remains a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, known for hosting engaging and entertaining interviews with celebrities. As for Meghan Markle’s career, she has successfully transitioned into her role as a duchess and is focused on humanitarian work and supporting charitable causes.
