CNN’s Hiring Spree: Liz joins the gossip team, Elisa returns for rain, Hanako takes Tokyo!

So, CNN has made some new hires and it’s worth talking about. First up, Elizabeth Wagmeister is joining as a correspondent covering entertainment, based in Los Angeles. Yep, that’s right.

Wagmeister has quite the resume, my friends. She was the chief correspondent for Variety, leading coverage of the Harvey Weinstein trial and the Britney Spears conservatorship case. Not too shabby, right? She also did some time as the senior entertainment editor at HollywoodLife.com and even co-hosted Page Six TV from 2016 to 2019. Oh, and let’s not forget her time at TV Guide magazine. Yeah, she’s kind of a big deal.

But wait, there’s more! CNN also announced a couple more hires. Elisa Raffa is joining as a weather anchor and correspondent, based in Atlanta. What’s so special about her, you ask? Well, she’s not your average weather person. Before CNN, she was a meteorologist and climate specialist for Queen City News in Charlotte, North Carolina. And get this, she’s known for “using everything from beer, chocolate, snow shovels, and vultures to help the audience relate to the climate crisis.” Talk about creative, am I right? She’s also a former intern with the network’s national and international weather teams. Basically, she’s a weather guru.

And there’s more to come! Hanako Montgomery is joining the network as a correspondent based in Tokyo. She was previously the East Asia reporter for Vice News and did some reporting and interviews for NHK’s World Premium Service, TV Japan, based in New York. Oh, and let’s not forget the latest addition to the team. Julia Benbrook is joining CNN Newsource as a correspondent based in Washington, D.C. She used to be an on-air correspondent for Spectrum News.
