The network Fox was denied an opportunity to use Taylor Swift’s music, according to a producer.

The 33-year-old “Lavender Haze” singer is making headlines after appearing at the Kansas City Chiefs’ game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday (September 24) amid speculation that she and Chiefs tight end, Travis Kelce, are dating.

Fox, who broadcasted the game, wanted to feature Taylor‘s music on the air, but did not receive permission from the artist’s team.

The Denied Request

In a FoxSports.com blog post posted on Thursday (September 28), NFL on Fox‘s lead producer Richie Zyon revealed that “earlier in the week, amid the avalanche of rumors, our bulldog associate producer Rich Gross had sought permission to use some of Swift‘s music,” he wrote. “Not a chance.”

Richie continued, “Per the FOX music department, Swift‘s record label and publishing company denied our request ‘in conjunction with speculations on or about her private/personal/dating life.’”

While the broadcast was unable to accompany Taylor‘s exciting appearance at the game with some of her biggest hits, Richie explained how the crew went about capturing the event.

“Russo showed restraint not taking gratuitous live shots, saving the opportunities for when she reacted to action in the game,” he said. “Her joyful expression after Kelce scored a touchdown was the image of the day, captured beautifully by our low-end-zone cameraman Andy Mitchell.”
