Did Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert cancel their live show due to COVID?

In unfortunate news, the highly anticipated “Strike Force Three” live event featuring Jimmy Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, and Stephen Colbert has been canceled. This disappointing turn of events comes after Jimmy Kimmel tested positive for COVID-19.

Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, Kimmel shared the unfortunate news with his fans. He expressed his regret and the need to cancel the show, stating, “Well, Las Vegas, I got Covid, and sadly, we need to cancel this weekend’s Strike Force Three show.” Kimmel also emphasized his concern about potentially spreading the virus to his hometown friends. Despite the cancellation, Kimmel reassured ticket holders that they would receive full refunds, and the organizers would attempt to reschedule the event if possible.

The “Strike Force Three” live show was scheduled to take place on September 23 at the Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas. This event would have marked the first time that the three late-night hosts appeared together on stage. It was an exciting prospect for fans of their individual shows and late-night television in general. The idea for the event originated from the “Strike Force Five” podcast, which Kimmel, Fallon, and Colbert launched alongside Seth Meyers and John Oliver on August 30.

Interestingly, the hosts began collaborating when their respective late-night shows went off the air due to the WGA strike on May 2. They started meeting virtually over Zoom, and these discussions eventually led to a deal with Spotify. The “Strike Force Five” podcast debuted as the number one podcast on both Spotify and Apple, with all proceeds going towards supporting the staffers of “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” “The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon,” “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert,” “Late Night With Seth Meyers,” and “Last Week Tonight With John Oliver.” These employees have lost their income as a consequence of the ongoing strike. Additionally, the proceeds from the canceled live show were intended to benefit the late-night staff.

While it’s disheartening that the “Strike Force Three” live event had to be canceled, the safety and well-being of everyone involved must always be a priority. Hopefully, Jimmy Kimmel makes a swift recovery, and fans will have the opportunity to see these three talented late-night hosts unite on stage in the future.
