Is Beyoncé’s Renaissance World Tour the next big screen concert film for AMC?

AMC’s Next Big Concert Film: Beyonce Renaissance World Tour

It seems like the big screen concert fever is still going strong, especially with the success of Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour”. Now, the buzz is all about AMC’s next concert film, featuring none other than Beyonce herself. Titled “Beyonce: Renaissance World Tour”, this film has been highly anticipated by fans who were unable to secure live event tickets over the past year. The release date is rumored to be in December.

Reports suggest that Beyonce shot “Renaissance World Tour” in her hometown of Houston, TX, during a two-day event in late September. The news is likely to be officially announced by Beyonce herself tomorrow, as the tour stops in Kansas City, MO, which is just 16 miles away from AMC’s HQ in Leawood. Currently, AMC is in talks regarding the theatrical release, and it is expected that the film will follow a similar distribution pattern to “The Eras Tour”, with other major exhibitors like Regal, Cinemark, Marcus, and indie distributor Variance also involved.

If this deal goes through, it will be yet another brilliant move by AMC Boss Adam Aron, who has been working tirelessly to save the cinema industry amidst the ongoing actors’ strike. Even if the strike ends soon, several sources indicate that filming for many movies won’t begin until 2024, potentially causing further disruptions to the theatrical release schedule. With Legendary/Warner Bros.’ “Dune: Part Two” already shifting its release from November 2023 to March 2024 due to promotional challenges with the cast, Aron seized the opportunity and struck a deal that the Swift family couldn’t refuse for “The Eras Tour”. AMC secured a significant cut of the gross (up to 57% shared between Swift and AMC) and turned October into a must-see event, starting from October 13. Pre-sales for the film two weeks ago in the US, Canada, and Mexico reached an impressive $65 million, with the domestic opening projected to range between a wild $75 million to $125 million.

Beyonce’s “Renaissance World Tour” is expected to be one of her highest-grossing tours to date, with revenue totaling close to half a billion dollars. The tour is in support of her seventh album, also titled “Renaissance”. Beyonce’s incredible talent has earned her 32 Grammy Awards and even an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for her work in the film “Dreamgirls”.

As of now, AMC has not responded to requests for comment regarding the Beyonce concert film.
