Did Danielle Fishel worry her ‘Boy Meets World’ podcast would “ruin the show” for fans?

In a recent interview with People magazine, Danielle Fishel expressed her concerns about starting a rewatch podcast for the beloved 90s sitcom, Boy Meets World. Fishel, who played Topanga Lawrence on the show, admitted that she feared the podcast, titled Pod Meets World, “might ruin” the show for fans.

Fishel explained that she and her former co-stars, Rider Strong and Will Friedle, wanted to be honest in their discussions during the podcast. However, she also emphasized that they didn’t want their opinions or experiences to change fans’ perceptions of the show. “We can’t do it if we’re not going to be honest,” Fishel said.

During each episode of Pod Meets World, the trio rewatch episodes of the series and share behind-the-scenes moments and memories from their time on the show. Fishel revealed that going through this process made her appreciate the show even more. “I was just left with one overarching feeling about the whole experience…Man, it’s a really good show, and what a great experience we had,” she said.

Boy Meets World first premiered in 1993 and ran for seven seasons before ending in 2000. The show followed the lives of Cory Matthews (played by Ben Savage) and his friends as they navigated the challenges of adolescence and young adulthood. Disney+ later launched a spin-off series, Girl Meets World, which focused on Cory and Topanga’s daughter, Riley.

When the idea of a podcast about Boy Meets World was initially brought up, Strong, who portrayed Shawn Hunter on the show, explained that they wanted it to be more of a personal journey for them. Rather than just discussing how great the show is, they wanted to delve into their own experiences and be honest with their audience.

It seems that Fishel’s concerns have been put to rest as the podcast has received positive feedback from fans. As they continue to take their personal journey through the episodes of Boy Meets World, it’s clear that the show still holds a special place in their hearts and the hearts of many fans around the world.
