Did a Florida woman sue Chick-Fil-A for $50K after eating a ‘black’ chicken nugget?

In a rather bizarre turn of events, a 29-year-old woman from Florida has decided to sue Chick-fil-A for a hefty sum of at least $50,000. Shi’terra Sharp filed a negligence lawsuit against the fast-food chain, claiming that she consumed a “black” chicken nugget from one of their locations in 2020. Now, let’s dive into the details of this peculiar lawsuit.

According to Fox 35 Orlando, Sharp filed the lawsuit in Orange County, Florida. She alleges that on January 8, 2020, she purchased chicken nuggets from a Chick-fil-A in Brooksville and then consumed them at her home. Peculiarly, as she was eating the nuggets, she realized that the meat was black in color. Furthermore, she fell violently ill, experiencing symptoms like diarrhea, cramps, and nausea.

The lawsuit, as quoted by Fox 35 Orlando, states, “[Plaintiff] became violently ill, was nauseated, vomited until [she] had no strength left to do so, suffered from cramping, nausea, and diarrhea after consuming the chicken nuggets purchased from Defendant.” It goes on to assert that she sustained serious injuries to various parts of her body, including her mouth, throat, stomach, and digestive system.

Interestingly, Sharp claimed, “I was as sick as a dog. I lost so much weight due to what happened.” It seems that she took this matter seriously and initially reached out to Chick-fil-A in 2020 to address the incident. However, the fast-food giant apparently denied any wrongdoing, asserting that there was nothing wrong with the meat.

Sharp’s lawsuit against Chick-fil-A revolves around the alleged negligence of the restaurant. She claims that the chain failed to adequately inspect its food for consumption, did not supervise employees properly during food preparation, and sold unfit food. The suit also implies that Chick-fil-A failed to prevent such an incident from occurring.

Futhermore, the lawsuit states that Sharp has been enduring significant pain and suffering for quite some time and has even been diagnosed with gastrointestinal illnesses. The document further elaborates, “These losses are either permanent or continuing in nature, and the Plaintiff will suffer said losses in the future, to-wit, permanently.”

Sharp seeks compensation for her damages, requesting an excessive sum of $50,000. She is also seeking coverage for her attorney’s fees, along with the costs of court and a trial by jury.

Interestingly enough, this peculiar incident at Chick-fil-A bears resemblance to another incident involving McDonald’s and an 8-year-old child from New Jersey. Back in August, as reported by The Shade Room, the child allegedly ingested a chicken nugget containing a dead mouse from a McDonald’s location in East Orange. The incident left the child traumatized.

While the veracity of these claims is yet to be determined, it surely makes one question the quality control and food safety practices at these fast-food establishments. Nevertheless, this lawsuit brings forth the importance of ensuring food safety and the potential repercussions that can arise from negligence in the service industry.
