Is Pilou Asbæk’s DCU role in ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’ revealed?

It has been confirmed that Pilou Asbæk will be making his DC Universe debut in the highly-anticipated film ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’. As we eagerly await the release of the Aquaman sequel in theaters, it seems that Asbæk’s role in the DCU may have been unveiled.

Despite being a notable actor with impressive projects like ‘Game of Thrones’ to his name, little has been known about Pilou Asbæk’s involvement in the DCU. However, according to a recent post on the subreddit r/DCEULeaks, it seems that Asbæk will be portraying the brother of Atlantis’ King Atlan in ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’.

The post suggests that the dynamic between King Atlan and his brother will reflect that of Orm and Aquaman. Since King Atlan is deceased by the time of the first film, it is highly unlikely that Asbæk’s character will engage in any confrontations with Jason Momoa’s Aquaman, or any other DCU hero for that matter. Nevertheless, his presence in the film is sure to leave a lasting impression once ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom’ hits the big screen.

The Future of The DC Universe

James Gunn and Peter Safran, the creative minds behind the DC Universe, have revealed their vision for the franchise. They aim to have locked scripts, while still allowing room for flexibility, and to establish a cohesive storyline that spans across various mediums including films, television, animation, and video games. This approach allows for the incorporation of previous DC elements, indicating that it is not a complete reboot of the universe.

Several films, such as ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’, ‘The Flash’, and ‘Blue Beetle’, have been released as part of this new DC Universe, with ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom’ set to join them in theaters in 2023. Whether characters from these movies will appear in future DCU projects remains to be seen, as James Gunn and Peter Safran hold the answers to that question.
