Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was supposed to be the last hurrah for our favorite team of cosmic goofballs. But hold on to your Rocket plushies, because James Gunn might just have some plans up his sleeve for the future of the Guardians in the MCU!
After leaving Marvel to work on the DC Universe, many fans thought that Vol 3. would be the end of the road for the Guardians in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But wait, it seems like there’s a glimmer of hope on the horizon, as James Gunn has hinted that he would love to see the franchise continue even without him at the helm:
“Kevin and I get along really well,” Gunn revealed in a recent post on Threads. “Although some characters won’t return, I would love for GotG to continue with the current+ members and would trust Kevin to choose the right person for it.”
So, it looks like the door is wide open for the Guardians to keep on grooving in the MCU, even if the masterful mind of James Gunn isn’t leading the charge. And with the chaotic nature of the Marvel multiverse, who knows what surprises might be in store for our favorite band of cosmic misfits?
The Guardians of the Galaxy’s Final Ride
Written and directed by the one and only James Gunn, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 features an all-star cast including Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, Will Poulter, Chukwudi Iwuji and Maria Bakalova. It’s a cosmic party that you don’t want to miss!
And what can we expect from this cosmic extravaganza? According to the synopsis: “Our beloved band of misfits are settling into life on Knowhere, but it isn’t long before their lives are upended by the echoes of Rocket’s turbulent past. Peter Quill, still reeling from the loss of Gamora, must rally his team around him on a dangerous mission to save Rocket’s life – a mission that, if not completed successfully, could quite possibly lead to the end of the Guardians as we know them.”
So, it’s going to be another wild and wacky cosmic adventure with our favorite ragtag team, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
