Is there any news on a ‘Office’ reboot from Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey?

“The Office” is one of the most streamed sitcoms around. The show, which was spun from the British version created by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant, aired on NBC for nine seasons. Initially, the workplace comedy faced the threat of cancellation after its first year, but it eventually found its creative footing and became a modern TV classic. The show bid farewell to its viewers in 2013, with cast members like Steve Carell and John Krasinski moving on to receive praise for their follow-up projects like “Foxcatcher” and “A Quiet Place,” respectively.

Recently, Puck News reported that show runner Greg Daniels is in the process of preparing an “Office” reboot. However, this news came as a surprise to show alums Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, who host the popular “Office Ladies” podcast. In a recent episode of the podcast, the two discussed the possibility of the show’s return, casting doubt on the reboot rumors.

Fischer, who portrayed the receptionist Pam Beesly on the series, revealed that she has never been contacted about being a part of another version of “The Office.” She stated, “No one has ever in all of these years contacted me about being on another version of ‘The Office.’ Or any cast member. Whenever I talk to the cast members, they’re like, ‘never heard of anything. Not a word.'”

Kinsey, who played the buttoned-up Angela on the show, mentioned previous text threads with ex-cast mates discussing the potential revival of the show. However, so far, nothing concrete has materialized. Fischer expressed that every time news articles about a possible “Office” reboot surface, her phone blows up with inquiries from fans. She consistently responds with the same answer, stating that she has no knowledge of any reboot plans. Kinsey remains hopeful that if there were any truth to the rumors, Greg Daniels would reach out to them.

The podcast hosts then shared Daniels’ latest comments on the subject, which were sparked by the Puck News article claiming that an “Office” reboot is officially happening at NBC. Daniels stated, “Well, I think that it’s very speculative. The fact that it kind of blew up based on one line in a Puck piece was kind of cool, I guess, in the sense that the fans still care a lot. But the thing I would say is, when there’s something to announce, I will definitely announce it.”

Fischer and Kinsey agreed with Daniels’ statement, acknowledging that until there is an official announcement, the rumors should be taken with a grain of salt. They even questioned whether Hollywood would be open to the idea of middle-aged versions of themselves returning to the world of “The Office.” Fischer humorously mentioned her upcoming 50th birthday, wondering if viewers would want to see a 50-year-old Pam sitting at a desk in Dunder Mifflin. However, she did suggest that Creed, played by ex-rocker Creed Bratton, should definitely be invited back as his enigmatic character who mysteriously descends from the ceiling at night.

Despite the ongoing rumors and excitement from fans, there is currently no news on a reboot of “The Office.” Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, along with other cast members, have not been contacted about participating in a new version of the show. Show runner Greg Daniels has stated that until there is something official to announce, the speculation should be taken with caution. While fans eagerly wait for any updates, the future of “The Office” remains uncertain.
