Is the new mattress too soft for your liking?

Looking for ways to improve the firmness of your mattress? Explore options like mattress toppers, wedges, and adjustable bed frames in this article.

Hubby and I decided to upgrade our sleeping situation by getting a “new-age” king mattress five years ago. Our bedroom is located in a loft area, accessible only through narrow stairs, which limited our options for choosing a mattress. We opted to put the new mattress on top of our existing old school mattress box spring to accommodate the unique layout of our bedroom.

Unfortunately, after a few years of sleeping on the new mattress, I started experiencing back issues. It became clear that the mattress was not firm enough to provide the support I needed for a good night’s sleep. So, what options do we have considering the constraints of our narrow stairs leading to the loft?

One option we can consider is investing in a firmer mattress topper that can be easily carried up the narrow stairs. This way, we can add the necessary support to our current mattress without having to navigate the challenges of bringing a new mattress up to the loft.

Another option is to explore the possibility of using mattress wedges or inserts to help make the existing mattress firmer. These can be inserted between the mattress layers to provide additional support where needed, potentially alleviating my back issues without the need for a completely new mattress.

In addition, it may be worth looking into adjustable bed frames that allow for customization of the mattress firmness. This way, we can adjust the firmness settings to suit our comfort levels without the hassle of replacing the entire mattress.

By exploring these options, we can find a solution to the firmness issue of our mattress while working within the limitations of our narrow staircase. Remember, prioritizing comfort and support is key to a restful night’s sleep.
