Does Sofia Vergara Cry Over Golden Buzzer Singer’s ‘AGT’ Performance?

Sofia Vergara can’t hold back her tears during an emotional performance on America’s Got Talent. The Golden Buzzer recipient, singer Gabriel Henrique, moved Vergara to tears with his powerful rendition of “Something Beautiful” by Jacob Banks. ET’s Deidre Behar caught up with Vergara after the live qualifying round, and she couldn’t help but express her overwhelming emotions.

“I mean, it was super emotional,” Vergara said. “I was prepared for him to be good, but never to be this amazingly good.” Henrique’s song choice surprised both Vergara and the other judges, as they were expecting a diva-like performance after his stunning audition round performance of Whitney Houston’s “Run to You.”

“I was surprised by the song because, you know, it’s a very difficult song, it’s a song that I don’t think we were expecting,” Vergara explained. “I think we were expecting, like, a diva song, and then he was gonna go crazy.”

Despite her initial doubts, Henrique’s high notes left Vergara in awe. “And so, at the beginning, I was like, ‘Aye, no, he’s not going to be able to go as high as he can with this song,'” she recalled. But Henrique proved her wrong. “It was like giving me goosebumps! It was super crazy because he’s so lost in his performance. It’s really, really something special to watch in person,” Vergara added.

As for Henrique’s chances of making it to the finals, Vergara has high hopes. “Because he really deserves to,” she said. However, she acknowledged the stiff competition this season. “Although I have to say that it’s going to be difficult this season because there are so many great talents,” she said.

While the show reaches its finale, Vergara herself has had an eventful year. She recently split with her husband Joe Manganiello after seven years of marriage. Despite the ups and downs, she shared, “It’s been an interesting year for me. A lot of changes. A lot of good and craziness. Bad things happened, and good things happened. A mix of what makes life so entertaining and interesting. So I can’t complain.”

With the America’s Got Talent live results show just around the corner, fans are eagerly waiting to see if Henrique’s performance will earn him enough votes to advance. Catch the show on Wednesday at 5 p.m. ET/PT on NBC.
