The official description of the film states that it captures the journey of the Renaissance World Tour, starting from its inception in Stockholm, Sweden, to its grand finale in Kansas City, Missouri. This is not the first time Beyoncé has released a concert documentary. She previously collaborated with Netflix for the release of Homecoming, which documented her iconic 2018 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival performance.

The Renaissance World Tour kicked off on May 10, 2022, in Stockholm, Sweden, shortly after she released her album. The tour has since traveled to major cities around the world, attracting millions of fans, including many celebrities such as Pedro Pascal, Issa Rae, Gabrielle Union, Kelly Rowland, and Tracee Ellis Ross. According to Billboard, the tour has grossed an impressive $461.3 million, making it the highest-grossing tour of all time in the Boxscore archives.

In addition to the concert film, it was recently announced that Taylor Swift will also be releasing a documentary about her Eras Tour, in collaboration with AMC. The Eras film is set to be released in more than 100 countries overseas, alongside its domestic launch on October 13. Early box office tracking data for the Eras Tour suggests a huge opening weekend of $75 million, with some analysts projecting numbers as high as $100 million or even $125 million.
