In a recent interview on the Drama Queens podcast hosted by Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Bethany Joy Lenz, Danneel Ackles, the wife of Jensen Ackles, opened up about her love life and revealed an interesting tidbit. She shared that she had actually tried to set up Jensen with Sophia, her co-star from the hit TV show One Tree Hill.
Danneel, who is now 44 years old, confessed that Jensen, who is 45, is the love of her life. However, before they got together, she had hoped that he would form a romantic connection with Sophia instead.
During the podcast, Danneel was asked to identify the greatest love of her life, to which she immediately responded, “It has to be Jensen.” But then, she went on to reminisce about her attempt to play matchmaker and set up Sophia with Jensen.
She said, “Actually, I was thinking about this the other day, Sophia, I tried to hook you up with Jensen. I don’t know why you said no, but thank you for saying no… Do you remember that? I was like, ‘You should go on a date with him. He’s really nice!'”
Sophia, who also remembered the scenario, explained that she had been in a phase where she swore off dating actors. She said, “Yeah, and then I remember being staunchly in a, like, I’m-never-gonna-date-an-actor-again [phase]—LOL I learn lessons the hard way. But I was like, ‘No! I’m gonna be more responsible with myself.’ And you know, he’s your perfect person so we did good.”
Notably, Sophia was previously married to her One Tree Hill co-star Chad Michael Murray for a short period in 2005. She later tied the knot with Grant Hughes in June 2022, only to file for divorce in August. Currently, she is rumored to be dating retired soccer player Ashlyn Harris following their respective divorces.
In the world of entertainment, it’s not uncommon for actors to cross paths and even form romantic relationships. But as Danneel Ackles revealed, sometimes even well-intentioned attempts to set up two people can end up going in a different direction.
Although Sophia Bush and Jensen Ackles may not have become a couple, fate had its own plans. Danneel and Jensen eventually found their way to each other and are now happily married.
